The Experience Of Attending Olive Grove Baptist Church

By Timothy Mitchell

People learn what to believe in from a young age. This is by doing as those around them do. If their family members believe in God, then this may be the path they follow. If those close to them have no such beliefs, the person will have no solid belief system. Those who want to experience Olive Grove Baptist Church need to go through the following information.

Figure out the perfect time to attend church. Most sessions are held on either Saturday or Sunday. Some could be in the middle of the week. However, mid-week arrangements could be for individuals serving in different capacities. The church can start quite early, and this is appropriate for those who cannot make it for later services. Time of attendance is always based on convenience.

Be flexible when it comes to time. One may have intended to spend a few hours hearing the word of God, but things can easily take a shift. Often when there are special occasions, the services take longer than usual as many activities have been planned. Those attending need to have an open mind and give enough time so that they can gain from experience.

Do not worry about not knowing songs. Books that contain hymns are usually provided to church members if they do not have their own. The most common hymns are often expressed on repeat, and one may have heard of them before. Lyrics can be displayed on screens as the song goes on and this is quite helpful to those who are not familiar with the song.

Interacting with people is a given. This can be uncomfortable for individuals who have never been in church before. However, this helps individuals feel comfortable. They can also find a friend through this. The leader in charge at the time usually asks the people to greet their neighbors. There are those who do not mind getting up from their seats and walking around to greet as many people as possible.

Feel at home. Visitors are often given a warm welcome. This is because they are appreciated, and the pastors would like them to keep coming back. They do not have to struggle to look for where to seat, as there is always a reservation for them. Leaders always ensure that they make time to speak to these individuals and help them where need be.

Ready yourself for communion. This is usually held on the first Sunday of every month. This may be a new experience for some. One can decide to simply watch and understand the process while others can decide to partake in it. Members who are not sure about communion can seek guidance from the leaders who are involved.

Do not forget to give the offering. This should be at least ten percent of the total income of the individual. However, few people follow this rule. The money is usually placed in a special basket. No one can see inside to see what it contains, and this helps people be discreet in their giving. Showing off money during this time is highly discouraged.
