Anyone With An Eye For Details Should Try Shopping To Make Money

By Charles Wood

There are people who just have an eye for detail and can point out anything that looks off or unusual within seconds. Normally these types may work in the accounting or finance fields, or freelance as a web developer. Other ideal careers may include working in a library or shopping to make money.

This line of work is growing in popularity for a number of reasons. Mostly because executives and shareholders want to know how everyday operations work. Although some may see mystery shopping as spying, the ability to tell the truth and be objective are key traits that marketing companies look for.

This works for students, freelancers, those unable to work a traditional job or are between regular employment. The ideal candidate should be mobile, have a good memory, as well as the ability to pick up on small details. Details can play a large role in report findings so that management will know what kind of action to take.

For instance, a person is at a fast food restaurant placing a small order. They realize that it is taking longer than usual but may notice things like the person that was ahead of them with a large order or the small staff. Other factors like time and date are indicators of whether management should hire extra staff or provide current staff with additional training.

While everyone has a different preparation method prior to performing a shop, the ideal is to be prepared. This means keeping notes concealed before entering a shop and keeping track of deadlines so that reports are submitted in a timely fashion. Report submissions are like an invoice when it comes to getting paid on time.

Although some individuals may perform shops as a way to earn extra money for years, even decades, it can take a while to get the hang of things. One way to have a good shopping experience is to report findings as soon as possible. Waiting until the last minute may cause shoppers to not get paid or ruin their standing for future shops.

Another good tip is to never rock the boat. If a member of sales is not communicating appropriately, it is best to remain calm until the transaction is completed. Even if a person suspects that an individual is a mystery shopper, sticking to script until the visit is complete will make everyone happy.

Also, it is worth noting that shops that pay higher rates may require the shopper make more than one trip within hours of the original trip. Other client requests may involve staying at a hotel overnight or making a purchase with a credit card. While most agencies will not perform a random credit check on prospective shoppers, some may need it in order to assign certain shops.

One last note is to start small. Fast food shops or nonpurchase shops are good for learning how to write reports. While the pay may be low, it is a great way to work up to larger shops that take longer to complete.
